My laptop does not load, do not know if its the battery or charger?

Well I have a laptop Dell Studio 1735 and all of a Suddenly he stopped charging. it works very well while its plugged in. Currently, I withdraw, however, he died. He said I have 0% battery left. Guys can any help you come up with a solution for this id does not have to get a new battery or charger. Thank you! one thing I forgot to add! Whenever I start the laptop it says that it doesn't recognize the adapter. it says Im not using a Dell 90W when I am. I havent used another charger at all. so hopefull this will help as
